This Australian entity has been a trusted leader in geotechnical and civil construction sectors for decades, and now seeks an accomplished Finance Director to ensure operational excellence and financial integrity while driving future growth.
The Opportunity
As Finance Director , you will lead the financial strategy, management, and governance of the Australian business while acting as a key liaison to global headquarters in Europe.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance, integrity, and profitability — overseeing all financial operations including reporting, audit readiness, cash flow, and performance analysis. This is a hands-on role requiring both strategic foresight and the ability to contribute operationally.
You will work closely with the Managing Director and global finance leadership team, supporting decision-making, improving processes, and ensuring financial alignment with global objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the finance function for the Australian entity, ensuring accurate and timely accounting in accordance with Australian GAAP.

Deliver monthly and annual financial reports to HQ in Europe, ensuring alignment with group policies.

Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to optimize profitability and working capital.

Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements while maintaining audit readiness.

Provide strategic financial insights to support commercial decision-making and sustainable growth.

Lead and mentor the local finance team, fostering high performance and accountability.

Partner with operational teams to evaluate project profitability, improve efficiency, and drive cost control.

Contribute to strategic planning, risk management, and long-term business development initiatives.

Maintain strong relationships with external auditors, regulators, and financial institutions.
About You

Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance ; CA or CPA qualification essential.

Minimum 10+ years’ experience in senior financial management, ideally within engineering, manufacturing, or construction sectors.

Proven success in leading finance teams and working within multinational structures.

Demonstrated commercial acumen and ability to translate financial data into strategic insights.

Confident, hands-on leader with humility, authenticity, and strong stakeholder management skills.

Strong systems literacy and analytical mindset; experience with ERP systems and financial modelling.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with global teams and executives.
